Stravinsky: The Firebird, Petrushka for solo piano

「火の鳥」には作曲者によるピアノ独奏用編曲がある。そもそもがバレエのために作曲されたオーケストラ曲であり、ピアニスティックな盛り上がりを見せる箇所までの時間が長すぎる。そしてピアノで全曲が演奏される機会は稀だし、演奏されるのはいつも、聴きごたえのある「G.アゴスティによる編曲」部分だけだ。だからその両方をミックスして録音することにした。また、アルトゥール・ルービンシュタインの依頼で編曲された「ペトルーシュカから3つの断章」のように、作曲者自身が全曲を独奏用に仕立て直してくれれば良かったのだが、残念ながらそれはない。そこで「ペトルーシュカから3つの断章」以外はSergei Pavchinskyによる編曲と組み合わせて、全曲をピアノソロとして録音した。

    There is an arrangement of "The Firebird" for solo piano by the composer. It is an orchestral piece originally composed for ballet, and it takes too long to reach the pianistic climax. It is rare that the entire piece is performed on piano, and only the "arrangement by G. Agosti," which is always worth listening to, is performed. So I decided to record a mix of both. It would have been nice if the composer himself had reworked the entire piece for solo performance, as in the case of "Three movements from Petruchka", which were arranged at the request of Arthur Rubinstein, but alas, this is not the case. Therefore, with the exception of "Three movements from Petruchka," all the pieces were recorded as solo piano pieces in combination with arrangements by Sergei Pavchinsky.
